Drone Roof Inspections

Close-up 4K drone roof inspections for pitched and flat roofs, finding slipped tiles, failed membranes, lifted flashing and blocked gutters early, with no ladders, no scaffolding and nobody working at height.

DRONE ROOF INSPECTIONS, EXPLAINED

A drone roof inspection uses a high-resolution camera to examine every part of a roof from the air: tiles or slates, ridges and hips, valleys, flashings, chimney stacks, rooflights, flat roof membranes and the gutters and outlets that drain them. The drone gets close to details that are difficult or dangerous to reach, capturing crisp 4K imagery that shows slipped tiles, lifted flashing, ponding water and failing felt or membranes before they turn into a leak.

It is a fast, low-cost alternative to scaffolding or a roof access survey for homeowners, landlords, managing agents, roofing contractors, surveyors and insurers, whether you need to trace a leak, assess storm damage, check a roof before buying, or plan repairs and budgets. Every inspection is flown by a CAA-registered pilot, with imagery often delivered the same day. Not sure what to budget? WHERE DRONE ROOF INSPECTIONS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Leak investigation

Trace the likely source of a leak by checking flashings, valleys, penetrations and outlets across the whole roof, then confirm hidden moisture with thermal imaging.

No working at height

Inspect pitched and flat roofs without ladders, scaffolding or cherry pickers, removing both the risk and the cost of access.

Pre-purchase roof checks

Understand the true condition of a roof before you commit, giving buyers and their surveyors confidence in the purchase.

Storm damage and insurance

Record missing tiles, displaced ridges and damaged coverings with clear, high-resolution imagery to support insurance claims.

Planned roof maintenance

Schedule regular inspections to plan repairs, prioritise budgets and catch small defects before they become expensive failures.

Same-day imagery

Get high-resolution roof imagery quickly, often on the day of the flight, with full reports typically within 3 to 5 business days.

HOW A DRONE ROOF INSPECTION WORKS

  1. 01

    Booking and planning

Tell us about the roof and what you need to know. We provide a quote, plan the flight and check airspace so the inspection is safe and compliant.

  2. 02

    Close-up aerial capture

Our pilots fly close to the roof covering, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimney stacks and gutters, capturing high-resolution 4K imagery of every section.

  3. 03

    Defect identification

We review the imagery to identify visible defects, from slipped or missing tiles and lifted flashing to ponding water, blistered membranes and blocked outlets.

  4. 04

    Annotated findings

Defects are marked up on the roof imagery and located on the roof, so repairs can be quoted, prioritised and checked off.

  5. 05

    Report and next steps

You receive a clear report with annotated images and recommended next steps, ready to share with roofers, surveyors, managing agents or insurers.

DRONE ROOF INSPECTIONS IN ACTION

drone roof inspection

A drone gives you a clear, close-up view of the whole roof in a fraction of the time of a traditional roof survey. See how it works on real jobs in our flat roof inspection and Diocese of Westminster case studies, or pair a survey with thermal imaging to find hidden moisture in flat roofs.

DRONE ROOF INSPECTION FAQs

What can a drone roof inspection find?

A drone can identify slipped or missing tiles and slates, lifted or damaged flashing, displaced ridge and hip tiles, damaged chimney stacks and pots, and blocked gutters and outlets. On flat roofs it can show ponding water, splits and blistering in the membrane.

Do I need scaffolding, ladders or roof access?

No. The drone inspects the roof from the air, so there is no scaffolding, no ladders, no cherry pickers and nobody on the roof. This makes inspections faster, safer and lower cost.

Can a drone find the source of a roof leak?

Often, yes. High-resolution imagery shows the defects most likely to let water in, such as failed flashing, broken tiles or splits in a membrane. For hidden moisture in flat roofs, thermal imaging can help confirm what is happening beneath the surface.

Can drone imagery support an insurance claim?

Yes. Clear, high-resolution imagery documents storm damage and defects across the whole roof, providing useful evidence for a claim. Formats can be tailored for insurers, surveyors or roofing contractors.

How quickly will I get my imagery?

We are usually able to start within a day or so and can often provide imagery on the day of the flight. Data processing typically takes 24 to 48 hours, with full reports delivered within 3 to 5 business days.
